Method Test Prep is a company that delivers self-paced, high-quality, dynamic, intuitive SAT and ACT prep options. And their program works, increasing test scores up to 150+ points.
Info about Method Test Prep
Both the ACT and the SAT courses include 25 hours of study. They can be spread out over 2 days, 2 months, 6 months or even a year. Students can take the PSAT in the fall, the SAT/ACT in the spring – and still have time to prep for a second SAT/ACT the following fall.
The program uses a checklist format which is really easy to follow, and each lesson is less than 5 minutes long. Each lesson features an audio file, which students can use to play the lesson text while they read it. After the lesson there is a short quiz so students can practice the strategies they have learned (the quizzes are a breeze). All quizzes contain immediate feedback including a video explanation, an audio explanation and a written explanation (very nice if a mistake is made). This helps students with different learning preferences absorb and comprehend as much as possible.
And of course, the site offers full length SAT/ACT sample tests, so your student can see how s/he might do on the real test.

BTW, we found the practical information for each lesson to be very helpful. For instance, this is just a smattering of the info for the ACT – English Lesson – General Tips, Week 3:
Questions are generally straightforward
The good news about the ACT English section is that students find many of the questions easy. The bad news is that it is very difficult to finish the section in time; a student is only given 45 minutes to answer 75 questions. Therefore, on this section, students have to resist the temptation to check over a question 2 or 3 times. I tell students: read the sentence quickly, then quickly cross out the choices that don’t make sense, choose your answer, and move on. There is no time for hesitation. Fortunately, many of the questions don’t take long to figure out and are fairly easy so students can move quickly through the section if they stay focused.
Select “NO CHANGE” if there is no error. This is not a trick
Another important point about the ACT English: do not be skeptical of the choice “NO CHANGE.” The correct answer is just as likely to be “NO CHANGE” as it is to be any of the other choices. Unfortunately, many students are hesitant to pick “NO CHANGE” because they think it is a trick answer.
Simpler answers are generally better answers
The ACT English section tests students on eliminating redundancy. For example, a sentence might say “the group was connected and associated with the mayor.” The correct answer will be to just say “the group was connected with the mayor.” “Connected with” and “associated with” mean very similar things. Therefore, to have both words in the sentence is considered redundant or repetitive.
Only 4 answer choices. Eliminate incorrect answers to select the correct one
It is great that the ACT English questions only have 4 answer choices because the strategy of “process of elimination” is a key part of doing well on this section. Students should approach each question with the attitude of “I want to quickly cross out the wrong answers first and then I can focus on the 2 choices that seem close.”
And FYI – here is a sample question for this same lesson.
The cost is $199 for a subscription which lasts until the student graduates from 12th grade. That’s a GREAT price, considering the length of time it covers.
